Hello! My son was just yesterday Dx'd with Duanes Syndrome. Appears to be no treatment for this according to the Ped. Opthal. MD. I understand that he will not have any significant probelms with this secondary to his eyes do not turn in, probably because CN III has some wiring to the abductor muscles. Anyways, my question is at birth we new he had a permanent rigth ear hearlign loss secondary to poor cochlea formation. Also he had a skin tag on the left thumb and the right thumb developed an extra phalynx, therefor thumb looks like a finger, but opposes etc.. Intially sonography of kidneys were performed to rule out potential pathology here, all was negative.
my question is with the new dx, is there now any reason to to suspect genetic involvement and could there be other things to look for? thank you for your thoughts and ideas. Ryan Mahar, PT |
